Ten Steps to Maintaining Your Foundation

Building Permits

Most towns and cities have building codes. They vary greatly from one city or county to the next. Your contract should state that the contractor would obtain a permit when one is required.

Not all cities or counties require building permits for foundation repair. To find out if a permit is required, call the building office for your city or county. If a permit is required, the permit should be issued in the name of the contractor. That way, if the contractor's work does not pass inspection, if inspections are required, you will not be held liable for the cost of corrections.
