To make your repairs, Arch Foundation Repair must re-support
your foundation on columns. We will install the columns by
hydraulically driving them beneath the foundation. Our columns,
which are called pilings, serve two purposes. First, the pilings
serve as platforms upon which we set jacks to raise the settled
portions of the foundation. Second, the pilings transfer the weight
of the building from the unstable surface soils to deeper, more
stable layers. The process individually tests the bearing capability
of the soil and piling at each location.
The Competition
Pressed Pilings with no connectors or
with flexible connectors.
Advantages
- Proper depth can be reached by driving against the load of the structure being raised.
- Site Cleanliness and speed save time and minimize damage to landscape.
- Soil's load bearing capacities are tested by driving the piling into the soil.
- Pre-cured/tested concrete allows immediate leveling of the structure.
- A saftey factor is provided by load distribution and thixotropy.
Disadvantages
- Alignment may be impaired by buried obstacles.
- Because there are no connectors between pilings (or because connectors present are flexible), there can be lateral shifting or deflection of the piling during driving and after work is completed.
- Depth can only be verified by checking contractor records (cylinder counts, initial and final length of connector, etc.)
Pro-Lift
Pressed Pilings with rigid steel connectors.
Advantages
- All the advantages of other pressed pilings.
- Custom-fitted for your home with all the advantages of the Pro-Lift System.
- The rigid steel connectors help prevent horizontal movementduring and after installation.
- The performance of Pro-Lift pilings is gauranteed for the life of your home.
- Guarantee is backed by the Texas Foundation Warranty Trust
Disadvantages
- Depth can only be verified by checking contractor records
(cylinder counts, initial and final length of connector, etc.)

Pro-Lift
Concrete Piers 8 to 20 feet deep and belled to twice the shaft diameter
Advantages
- A permanent solution when properly designed and installed.
- A bell at the bottom greatly increases load bearing capacity.
- Depth can be visually verified.
- Alignment can be verticle or angled.
Disadvantages
- Proper installation requires expensive soil sampling and lab work.
- Installation requires a minimum of 10 days.
- Can require the use of heavy equipment.
- Can be very destructive to landscaping.
- Extremely difficult to install inside of buildings.

The Competition
Single-wall Steel Pilings without corrosion
protection
Advantages
- Proper depth can be reached by driving against the load of the
structure being raised.
- Speed of installation.
- Site Cleanliness and speed save time and minimize damage to landscape.
- Narrow diameter and smooth surface allow maximum depth to be reached.
- Deep driving pilings often reach bedrock.
- Depth and alignment can be measured and checked through the center
of the piling.
- A saftey factor is provided by load distribution and thixotropy.
Disadvantages
- Unsightly brackets are often visible on the side of a
foundation after installation.
- Single-walled pilings are not always as rigid as necessary.
This can allow a piling to deflect.
- Corrosion is a problem because the upper portions of the
pilings are not protected from oxygen.
- Supports the structure eccentrically rather than directly.
This increases the chance that a piling will be installed crookedly
and increases the stresses on the piling.
Pro-Lift
Multi-wall Steel Pilings.
Advantages
- All the advantages of single-walled steel pilings, plus:
- Double-walled pipe provides extra stiffness, ensuring a straight shaft.
- The load of the structure bears straight down on the piling, ensuring
a straight and vertical shaft.
- The entire piling is buried and out of sight.
- The concrete top assembly will not rust.
- The performance of Pro-Lift pilings is guaranteed for the life of
your home.
- Guarantee is backed by the Texas Foundation Warranty Trust.
