Tips to Remember

Make sure you consider the following DO'S & DON'TS when hiring a contractor:

DO's
DO contact your local Better Business Bureau.
DO verify the name, address, telephone & fax numbers, credentials, and references of the contractor.
DO ensure that the contractor is licensed and insured.
DO obtain more than one bid.
DO check with the local building authority to determine what permits, if any, are needed.
DO include all terms, conditions, warranties, and verbal promises in a written contract.

DON'Ts
DON'T sign the contract until you have read it and understand all the terms.
DON'T submit to high pressure sales tactics.
DON'T pay the full amount in advance, or in cash without obtaining a receipt.
